Clinical Social Workers assess, diagnose, and treat psychosocial problems faced by individuals, families, groups, and communities. Clinical Social Workers uniquely consider the impact of the environment on the person, in addition to psychological and developmental factors. Clinical Social Workers apply established principles of psychosocial development, behavioral theory, unconscious motivation, interpersonal relationships, and environmental stress to their practice. They practice in the areas of disability, mental health, and addiction.
Clinical Social Work includes, but is not limited to: mental health consultation, counseling, family therapy, psychotherapy, group therapy, behavioral modification and, in some cases, advocacy.
